One of the nine "leaves" of the church's Discipleship Model is "Stewardship," defined as "managing God's resources". Stewardship uses God-given abilities to manage God-owned properties and achieve God-ordained results. This ministry helps Christians to grow in stewardship in two ways. First, through prayer, in helping us to understand God's will for our lives. Second, by enabling us to use our resources according to His will, with faith and a dedication that is pleasing to Him.
Vision
The vision of this ministry is to strengthen individual and corporate discipline of stewardship so that our management of resources and our giving is conducted according to the following principles:
- "God owns everything. We are a money manager for Him."
- "My heart always goes where I put God's money."
- "Heaven, not earth, is my home."
- "I should live not for my time on this earth but for eternity,"
- "Giving is the only antidote to materialism."
- "God prospers me not to raise my standard of living but to raise my standard of giving."
Schedule
The Capital Stewardship ministry functions for a designated three-year commitment and giving periods, when a specific building project requires funding. Regular ("Operating") stewardship is ongoing throughout an entire year.
Opportunities
The follow-up phase of the Change our World campaign will continue through 2008. There will be plenty of opportunities for people to participate in this ministry if they are interested by disseminating information, inviting individuals / families to become donors, follow-up to those already participating as donors, etc.
